One-Tuesday Night

Sitting on the edge of my daughter’s bed, time slows as we are cradled in soft shadows cast by her mother bunny night-light. Many nights, after I read a story and pray for her, my two-year old daughter says, “Stay with me Mom”. .,.,.,…. And so I stay.,.,.
Gertie reaches up, wraps her arms tightly around my neck and pulls my face down over hers until my cheek is resting on top of her cheek. Occasionally we talk during our “CHEEK-TO-CHEEK” time, but most often we are quite in each other’s company, I hug and kiss her goodnight.
Watching my daughter has given me a childlike picture of myself – a glimpse of my childhood life, How my mom really Love us, “I Love You, MAMA!” that she had all the answers to all our queries. It really shows that the essence of being a good mom is being a good kid as well. I am reminded, through my daughter that the Lord doesn’t define me as a WIFE, MOTHER or a RESPONSIBLE ADULT, he is reminding me for being a good kid way back then.
I was praying that in the busyness of life, it’s hard to stop for my children. Help me seek and find opportunities to bless them with my time. For I have learned that giving my time to my children is one of the best INVESTMENTS I can make.
